1. Where are halal food stores in Ingolstadt?

Answer: Most of the people buy halal meat from

2. Where are Halal Restaurants in Ingolstadt?

Answer: There are a lot of Halal restaurants in Ingolstadt. All Turkish restaurants are Halal. Most Döner shops are also Halal. Make sure to ask them if they are not Turkish. Various Indian restaurants in Ingolstadt serve Halal Food. Some common ones are mentioned. You can find them on Google Maps.

3. If a food item is not stamped Halal, what to do then?

Answer: In case, the food item is not stamped Halal and you cannot confirm it from the shopkeeper, just see the ingredients and make sure it does not have Alcohol, Gelatin, and Schwein (Pig). Also, there are some apps for this purpose (for example Halal Zulal, Hilal Check) you can try.

4. How many mosques are there in Ingolstadt?

Answer: There are multiple mosques in Ingolstadt, the most famous ones are:

5. Where can I get my Student ID card from?

Answer: Change your address in the Primuss portal first from your Pakistani address to a Local address, after some time you will receive a QR code which you can scan at terminals in the university (Inside A building) to get your ID card.

6. What are the things to take care of while living in Ingolstadt?

Answer:

·       Be punctual in routine life matters (Germans do not like the person who does not value time)

·       Always read the documents/contracts before signing them, If the document is in German use Google Translate, prefer to consult with your seniors before taking any big step (Buray log her jagah hotay Hain, avoid scams).

·       Don’t leave your cycle unlocked. Theft of cycles is very common here in Germany. Additionally, don’t cycle without front and rear lights at night. You might get yourself fined for it.

·       Don’t lose your keys! Making new keys is very expensive here.

·       Get a liability insurance to be on a safer side. If you are involved in some damages, then your insurance can cover it based on your contract.

·       Don’t make noises after 10 P.m. or on a Sunday. Your neighbors might complain to the authorities about this.

7. How to search for technical and non-technical jobs?

Answer:

For Technical Jobs: Use LinkedIn, Indeed, Stepstone, and Xing websites to search for your study-related Werkstudent openings in different companies. Additionally, search on the company website job Portal (Not all vacancies are advertised on LinkedIn sometimes)

For Odd jobs: You try some of the following options:

·       Job Provider Companies: Jobmacher (office near Rewe in the City centre), Schanzer Zeit Arbeit.

·       Job apps: Job Valley (app), Zenjob (App),

·       Delivery jobs: Lieferando, Wolt, Dominoes.

·       Brand shops: shops in Ingolstadt Village, Westpark, and City Center.

·       Job with German skills: Salesperson job (Verkäufer at different bakeries like Backstube wunsche, backhaus Hackner), Cashier at Kasse (Aldi, Rewe, Edeka)

8. What is Deutschland Karte and how can a student buy this?

Answer: The Deutschland ticket (D-Ticket) is a subscription public transport ticket for all local public transport, valid in the whole of Germany that costs 49 Euros/month for normal users and 29 Euros/month for students. This can be used for all types of public transport (buses and trains) except fast-speed trains i.e. ICE & Air express buses (airport buses)

Visit the VGI app or DB app to buy a D-Ticket. If you do have not a bank account yet, you can use someone else’s bank account for this subscription.

Note: if you wish to no longer use this ticket, you need to unsubscribe before the 10th of the previous month.

9. How to transfer money from Germany to Pakistan?

Answer: You can use the Wise app, ACE money transfer app or TapTap send app.  Check which app has the lowest rate and use that for sending. You can also get referral codes from People already using these apps to get a one-time discount as well. 😉
